Mike was stationed in Hawaii from 1995 - 2017. Cherise was born in Hawaii. We met while assigned to the Hawaii Army National Guard. When I retired in 2017 we moved to Florida where Mike was born and raised. Within a very short time Cherise starting missing all the wonderful food and treats from Hawaii. She purchased a Shave Ice machine as well as many other specialty foods from Hawaii. Several family and friends would come over to enjoy these treats as well. Everyone told us we needed to do this for more people. In 2018 we started (808) Island Treats, 808 being the area code for Hawaii. We started out as a small tent and 2 tables at a Brooksville farmers market. from there we grew quickly grew into a full size trailer. We opened our first store in Dec 2019, which we all know what happened in early 2020. We struggled to make it for almost 2 years. We then took a year off and focused on our trailer at the beach. After a great summer we found a turn key retail space in Spring Hill, we opened our second store Oct 2022 moving along we then heard about another opportunity to revitalize the Gulf View Square Mall in Port Richey, that store opened in May 2023. Keep with the fast pace of Boba Tea and Shave Ice we quickly found ourselves with another opportunity at Countryside Mall in Clearwater where we opened Hawaiian Island Treats on NOV 1.
